Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 7 hattricks in Champions League history as they demolish Atletico

The match ball went home with Cristiano Ronaldo as he scored a hattrick in Real Madrid’s 3-0 home win over Atletico Madrid.
Ronaldo went into the Champions League semi-final first leg with the same number of goals scored in the competition’s history as Atletico – 100.
But a header in the 10th minute put him on ahead before a thunderous volley in the 73rd minute left Atletico deflated.

The Portuguese star sealed the result with a shot in the 86th minute to leave Atletico needed to win by a four-goal margin in the second leg next Wednesday to reach the final.

As for Ronaldo, he has now scored seven hattricks in the Champions League, equalling the record set by Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.

The hattrick is also the 42nd scored by CR7 as a Real Madrid player.

Meanwhile on Wednesday night, Juventus travel to the French coast to face Monaco in the other Champions League semi-final contest.
