Davido, Omotola, Falz, Chichi Nwoko, others made the list of 100 most influential people of African descent

The Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) has unveiled their 2018 list and many Nigerians made the list.

MIPAD honours 100 outstanding individuals of African descent in four categories; politics and governance, business and entrepreneurship, media and culture, humanitarian and religion.
 
Chichi Nwoko, David ‘Davido’ Adeleke, Eunice Omole, Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Onos Ariyo, Seyi Tinubu, Stella Damasus, and Yemi Alade are categorized under Nigerians in the media and culture.

Chude Jideonwo, Niniola Soleye, Yemi Adamolekun, and Zuriel Oduwole were recognised in the humanitarian & religion category.

In the politics and governance section, Abiola Afolayan, Hadiza Bala Usman, Yemi Kale, Prince Godswill Edward, and Tolu Ogunlesi were recognized.

In the business and entrepreneurship section, Bosun Tijani, Bayo Adekanmbi, Ayiri Oladunmoye, Audu Maikori, Ada Osakwe, Onyeche Tifase, Rolake Akinkugbe-Filani, Dapo Olagunju, Bella Disu and Michael Ugwu are the Nigerians who made the list.

“Over the years the contributions and impact of young and highly influential Africans have been neglected leaving a huge gap in the quest to inspire the next generation towards greater exploits,” said Kamil Olufowobi, chief executive officer, MIPAD.

“We are all about paving the way for Africans to embrace creativity and sustainable success within our peoples.”

Some of the MIPAD honourees, including Jalade Ekeinde and Ogunlesi, were celebrated during a ceremony in New York, US.
